I'm a counsellor, psychotherapist & supervisor based in Douglas, Cork. I work integratively, drawing on different models of therapy to suit each person I work with. I hold a BA (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy and an MA Advanced Group Facilitation, and I'm a fully accredited psychotherapist and supervisor with the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP).

I work in person at Maryborough Ridge, Douglas, Cork, or online.

If you are a trainee counsellor, please check with your training provider regarding the permitted percentage of online counselling or supervision hours. The current IACP guideline allows up to 30% of counselling hours to be conducted online, and separately, up to 30% of supervision hours to be conducted online — each is capped individually, not combined. I am happy to work with trainees and will follow any guidance from your training organisation.

I adhere to the IACP's ethical guidelines for counselling and supervision.

Here's Holly

Holly, a small cream-coloured cockapoo dog, lying down

My dog Holly is often present during sessions. She's a gentle, timid soul, though she usually barks whenever someone approaches the front door. If you have a fear of dogs, please let me know when you get in touch and I'll happily arrange for her not to be present for your session.

Common questions

What is your approach?

I work integratively, drawing on different models of therapy to suit each person I work with.

Are you accredited?

Yes. I'm a fully accredited psychotherapist and supervisor with the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP), and I adhere to the IACP's ethical guidelines for counselling and supervision.

Do you work online?

Yes, I work online or in person at Maryborough Ridge, Douglas, Cork.

Do you see clients in the evenings?

Yes, I see clients in the evenings, but evening sessions are in much greater demand.

How do I get in touch and book a first appointment?

The quickest way to reach me is by text. Before I book an appointment with a new client, I need to have a preliminary chat with you by phone. When you text or email, it helps if you let me know your availability and, if you're emailing, your phone number. I'm rarely able to answer calls directly, and I won't call without replying first and arranging a time for the call with you. You're welcome to contact me by text, email, or phone.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is a chance to talk about why you're coming for counselling and to establish what you'd like to get out of it and how that might look in your life. It's also the start of taking your history, along with some admin.

What about confidentiality and your cancellation policy?

I discuss both with you during the first session.

How much is a session, and how long does it last?

€70 per session. Sessions last 50–60 minutes.

How can I pay, and can I get a receipt?

I take payment by cash or Zippay.

Revolut payments are not accepted, so please use Zippay instead. Zippay is a new payment method set up by Bank of Ireland, AIB and PTSB. It lets customers of any of the three banks send money to each other using just a phone number. You'll find it in the transfer section of your banking app.

Receipts are provided in a form that is acceptable for insurance, if your plan covers counselling or psychotherapy.

Do you work with children or teenagers?

I work with adults over 18 only. If you're looking for a therapist for someone under 18, the IACP website lists accredited practitioners who work with children and adolescents.
